Winner of the IQ-Innovation Award for Central Germany in the cluster Biotechnology - Life Science 2009

After winning the Innovation Award of Leipzig in 2000 and the Innovation Award of Saxony in 2005 BioPlanta achieved the victory of the final round in the competition of the IQ-Innovation Award for Central Germany in the cluster Biotechnology - Life Science 2009. For the world-wide unique technology for industrial production of phytochemicals and plants in biofactories the 1st prize was awarded to BioPlanta.

Research Association Mining and Environment in Vietnam (RAME)
In the R&D project RAME, which is co financed by the ministry for education and research, BioPlanta designed a Constructed Wetland for the treatment of acid mine water in Dong Trieu (Vietnam). The Constructed Wetland is built by the national mining company VINACOMIN. The start of operation of the plant will be at the beginning of 2009. In cooperation with the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research plant based technologies for the recultivation of mining areas in Vietnam will be proofed.

Unit for the Production of Plant Derived Compounds Starts Operation
BioPlanta develops in cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF the basis for the construction of modern biofactories targeting the industrial production of plant derived compounds. Objective of the project is the automation of a novel cultivation system for plants adapted from the bioreactor technology developed by BioPlanta. The production costs are reduced and the product quality is improved by an automated control and a simple handling of the novel culture systems. This enables the industrial application of the technology with focus on the pharmaceutical and the biotechnological industry. The commissioning of a production unit consisting of 8 culture modules and the begin with the production of test charges are an important milestone within the project.
