Remediation of contaminated sites

For the remediation of abandoned industrial sites BioPlanta is engineering:
- Measures for the removal or reduction of pollutants (decontamination processes)
- Measures that prevent the spreading of contaminants (protective measures)
Remediation of military and armament abandoned locations
BioPlanta has developed economic technologies - Constructed Wetlands - and reactive iron (0)-walls for the treatment of ground and seepage water contaminated with explosive compounds.
This passive
in situ treatment with reactive walls enables decontamination of the ground water without extraction.
Soil remediation
Contaminated soils that pose a threat to the environment have to be secured or cleaned. This can be achieved either by decontamination or preventing the contaminants from spreading further.
BioPlanta´s fundamental competencies are:
- Decontamination of military and armament abandoned sites (explosives)
- Biological in situ remediation
- Phytoremediation
Sediment and sludge remediation
For sediment and sludge remediation, BioPlanta employs cost-effective technologies. Contaminated sediments, sewage sludge and production residues are placed in foil-lined basins, which have a humus-capped drainage layer, made of gravel at the bottom. The humus is planted with reed or other helophytes. With the help of plants, the sludge is converted into soil and organic contaminants are degraded. The seepage water is collected at the bottom of the system and treated separately.
