Monitoring of a river in Puebla, Mexico

Monitoring of a river in Puebla, Mexico In the area around the Puebla metropolitan area, a river area was monitored for the two biggest rivers of the region, the Atoyac and the Zahuap.

Within the realms of water quality monitoring, discharges were analyzed and loading hot spots were identified. Afterwards an assortment of places for the construction of local water treatment plants were chosen.

During the up-coming project stage, BioPlanta is going to plan these local Constructed Wetlands for municipalities located next to the rivers. These treatment plants reduce the discharge of organic loads into river water. The load of the reservoir Vasequillo, which both streams empty into, can be significantly reduced as well.
